Synopsis
In season one, Daphné Hézard turns us on to her eco-friendly attitude and responsible approach to travel and leisure, as she explores stunning natural wonders throughout the world.
India, Madagascar, Iceland, Lebanon, Jordan... from unspoiled, remote beaches to comfortable eco-lodges, Daphné shares her most beloved destinations and her wonderful and often startling encounters, in a lively audiovisual travelogue.
From out-of-the way hotels to alternative spas, from organic olive oil massages to natural food restaurants, Daphne shows the way to respectful and environmentally-friendly travel, leaving behind the smallest possible footprint.
In the second season, Boris Ehrgott and Daphné will take turns hosting the show. With their inimitable style and healthy attitude, Daphné and Boris travel to Costa Rica, Andalusia, Austria, Paris, Portugal, Polish Carpatians, Corsica, Scotland and Morocco.Episodes
GREEN TRIP SEASON 2
GREEN TRIP - ANDALUSIA
Boris opens the show in Andalusia, Spain’s most advanced region in terms of ecology. He takes us to the heart of the Sierra Nevada, which we explore on horseback, then to lunch in a friendly organic and vegetarian restaurant. Next, Boris stops to visit Aurore and Sam, who have just finished planting 350 organic olive trees, then meets José, an organic grape grower. And no trip to Andalusia would be complete without a stop in Granada, where we discover a little organic market with a selection of products from small local producers. Nearby, Boris meets Antoinette and Pedro, who have built a little mobile carousel from salvaged wood, which runs on the leg power of Pedro’s pedaling. Boris completes his trip in Altiplano Tipis, at 2700 feet, in original and completely green accommodations consisting of a troglodyte dwelling surrounded by individual tepees.
GREEN TRIP - PORTUGAL
Boris hits the road to Porto, in northern Portugal, where he begins his visit with an organic port wine tasting, and then heads to central northern Portugal, to a "WOOF " (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). There, Isabel and Felipe Antunes offer free board to travelers, the curious and courageous who are willing to work on their farm in exchange. In Lisbon, he meets a chef of organic and vegetarian cuisine. One hour away, Boris stays in extravagant green accommodations that offer over-the-top comfort and luxury. In Sintra, a charming little well preserved village in the south, Boris meets Margarita, head of a traditional tile workshop that produces Azulejos, one of the country’s oldest traditional crafts. Boris completes his journey at Portugal’s very first ecological camping site. After a treatment at the Spa, he enjoys an evening of fado music by firelight.
GREEN TRIP - MOROCCO
Come to the Kasbah du Toubkal, a 100% Berber hotel whose owners have created an association that collects and treats waste in the region. The view from this beautiful Kasbah is breathtaking! We also discover a female co-op that produces argan oil, where workers share in the profits and can benefit from literacy classes. Next, it’s off to a magnificent ecological Riad and a new city in the making: a future tourist destination in the highlands of Essaouira, with homes and hotels not more than three stories high and built in harmony with nature.
GREEN TRIP - MARRAKECH
In Marrakech, Jalil has opened a vegetarian restaurant where he delights his customers with vegetables picked only from his own organic garden. Daphne spends the night in an ecologically built Riad, then travels 20 miles outside Marrakech to a luxurious bivouac and does some fair trade shopping. She also meets with an association fighting to restore the water supply and replant the ancient palm grove, the Palmeraie. In the Ourika Valley, 22 miles from Marrakech, we discover a little jewel, Morocco’s very first organic garden, composed of medicinal and aromatic plants. A trip to delight the senses, which ends with a footbath infused with bitter orange oil-scented salts.
GREEN TRIP - COSTA RICA / 1st episode
An exceptional Green Trip to Costa Rica, a small country that nonetheless makes up 5% of the planet’s biodiversity, a country that has completely stopped deforestation and has even begun large-scale reforestation. On the road with Boris, we discover Glenn’s plantation café, Juan’s ecological farm located at the foot of the Arenal volcano, and Jurgen’s eco-lodge, where great efforts are taken to to preserve the treasures of the primeval forest.
GREEN TRIP - COSTA RICA / 2nd episode
After the jungle and mountains, Boris heads out on the coastal road, where we discover a camp site on the beach in a setting of breathtaking beauty. Then it’s off to Rancho Pacifico, a green hotel made up of luxury villas in the heart of the tropical forest. Continuing on the road to mountain summits, Boris introduces us to the small community of Durika, where we learn how we can live in perfect autonomy in a totally ecological way.
GREEN TRIP - AUSTRIA
Welcome to Austria, and a very refreshing Green Trip in the Tyrol. First, we discover two very comfortable hotels surrounded by nature, then spend the night in a tent with sled dogs after an enjoyable tour in the outdoors. Next, we head south to explore the magnificent national park Hohe Tauern, the largest environmentally protected area in central Europe. Who better than a forest ranger to lead us on an exploration of this natural reserve, in snow shoes, no less!
GREEN TRIP - POLAND
In Poland, the region of Malopolska is a place with unique history, where nature and cultural heritage meet. Our explorations include an organic farm, an abbey nestled in greenery with guest accommodations and a boutique where you can buy the convent’s organic products, and a traditional village that is a shining example of ecological responsibility.
GREEN TRIP - SCOTLAND (Highlands)
Welcome to Scotland, where generosity and sharing are words to live by. With Boris, we visit an eco-village where the principal housing was built from leftover whisky barrels. Then it’s off to the Highlands and the largest national park in the country. No trip would be complete without seeing the lake of Loch Ness, followed by a visit to a medieval chateau where Boris gets a taste of organic whisky before retiring for the night. Finally, we get a lesson in fly-fishing from the sport’s national champion and a cooking class: how to prepare trout the Scottish way, in the tradition of “slow food”.
GREEN TRIP - SCOTLAND (Hebrides)
Time to discover the irresistibly enchanting islands off the western coast of Scotland. Our program with Boris includes visiting an all-natural cheese farm, discovering red deer and seals with a naturalist and spending the night on the tiny island of Iona, in a family hotel that respects nature. Next, we stay on the island of Erraid, where Boris introduces us to the experience of community life in the form of an ecological retreat. Finally, we meet Minty and his flock of organic sheep.
GREEN TRIP - CORSICA
With 2000 plant species and a natural park that makes up more than a third of its surface, Corsica is a must-see. Our excursion with Daphne begins in the north of the island, in an organic fruit and vegetable garden where we discover extraordinary views of the valley. Here, consuming local, direct from the farm or at fruit and vegetable stands, is a priority. Next, Daphne takes us to an eco-village, where guests earn their keep by helping out in the garden. Then it’s out into the brush near Porto-Vecchio to make natural essential oil. Finally, it’s off to visit a spectacular hotel on the Mediterranean Sea!
GREEN TRIP - PARIS
Daphne takes us to the most visited capital of the world: Paris. On the menu: rides around town on city rental bikes, on the public ferryboat that stops at famous monuments, and in an ecological hot air balloon that measures air quality. Next we visit the roof of a gymnasium planted with co-op gardens, a boutique where Daphne tries on “upcycled” clothes, and an ecological spa designed according to the rules of Feng Shui. Next, we explore the organic market of Batignolles and picnic in the local park of the Père Lachaise district. Finally, we spend the night in Paris’ first ecological hotel and meet an activist artist who transforms garbage into art.

GREEN TRIP - LEBANON / JORDAN
Daphne introduces us to Lebanon and Jordan. These two countries, steeped in history, today are developing a real policy for the environment with the widespread cooperation of its residents. Daphne strikes off the beaten path, far from stereotypes, to show us a unique side of these two bordering countries in the company of a few of their people. For example: a couple of committed artists who recycle discarded signs in the Lebanese capital, the first organic boutique in Beirut and an eco-village 45 minutes from the city, a hip eco-friendly restaurant in Amman, a charming eco-lodge in the middle of the desert and mud baths in the Dead Sea.
GREEN TRIP - INDIA
Daphne first discovers Rajasthan and the “Heritage Hotel,” a fort built in 1622, renovated with the purest possible respect for tradition. Then we meet the Bishnois, a Hindu people who have lived in total harmony with their natural environment for 500 years. In the heart of nature, we visit an authentic and refined eco-station that is home to more than 200 varieties of animals. Next we turn to Southern India and its seaside, where thanks to the initiative of an Australian, a city that was formerly a huge dump is now slowly letting nature take over. Then off to Pondicherry and Auroville, where ecology is king: we visit an Indian cafeteria that optimizes the energetic and medicinal virtues of food, meet craftspeople with magical fingers, see the eco-village Dune, where people come from all four corners of the earth for its unique alternative treatments, and discover the seed production and exchange network of India and South Asia.
GREEN TRIP - MADAGASCAR / SOUTH AFRICA
First off, Daphne lands in Eden Lodge in Madagascar, one of the few hotels in the world that operates entirely on solar energy. Then she takes an interest in the endangered turtles of Nosy Be and an association that offers an alternative experience of the region with immersion tours living with country folk. Then it is off to South Africa, where Daphne introduces us to the Sweni Lodge of Kruger Park, a truly luxurious hideaway in an exquisite natural setting. Finally, we go to the suburbs of Johannesburg, where we meet Romy, a young designer committed to “100% organic and fair-trade” design, and Sue, creator of an extraordinary project to help people living in the ghettos of Soweto: women use the drawings of sick children to make rag dolls. Thanks to this project, children in the local daycare center get several meals a day and medical care.
GREEN TRIP – SOUTHERN FRANCE / SWITZERLAND
We start off this green trip by heading to the south of France. Highlights include a green and comfortable “mas” or traditional estate, a glider ride over Saint Rémy de Provence, a meeting with winemakers who use biodynamics (making wine according to the position of the planets) and visits to an ultra-modern ecological hotel and a completely autonomous eco-lodge. Daphne then goes to the little villages of French Switzerland. The schedule includes: yoga, meditation, shiatsu, apitherapy and a night in a 21st century igloo. You come out bigger, better and relaxed.
GREEN TRIP – BELGIUM / NETHERLANDS
A few hours train ride from Paris, Daphne goes to visit with her Belgian and Dutch neighbors to check if they are as green as their reputation makes them out to be. Since they are known for design, it is an opportunity to see their “avant-garde” initiatives, like an art gallery/boutique in Holland where everything is recycled and the transformation of a 19th century Belgian neo-Gothic church into a luxury hotel. An efficient way to preserve the city’s historical and cultural heritage!
GREEN TRIP – ICELAND / LONDON
Daphne sets out to discover Iceland, an island where lush green scenery alternates with lunar landscapes. Iceland is by nature a “green” destination. The local food is naturally organic and energy production is ecological. Daphne tries out hot baths in the middle of nature, gets to admire a highly protected species of horse and stays in a unique Guesthouse that has been entirely furnished and decorated with recycled materials. Then it is off to London, where she meets Arthur, the owner of a supermarket that gives its clients 10% off in exchange for 4 hours of work per month, and a French woman named Azul, who planted her fruit and vegetable garden on a supermarket roof!
