  • Synopsis

A boy raised listening to his father’s piano, Serge grows up between the beauty of art and music, the sensuality of the opposite sex, the mysteries of poetry and prostitution. And being a Jewish boy during the war.
One day, he realizes that all which intoxicates his soul, the desperation, the fear and the solitude that set him apart, can be his voice. His talent is released and Gainsbourg becomes a shocking legend as Europe looks on, about to fall utterly in love with him.
This film is the story of Gainsbourg, told by himself in an original portrait, featuring previously unreleased personal footage, against a backdrop of poetic visual and musical illustrations of the artist’s inspirations, visions and moods.
