Synopsis
80-year-old retired doctor Lucien has a big personality. He is and has always been a man of action, famous for his defense of women's rights and family planning.
Nowadays, Lucien stands up for the rights of illegal immigrants. And his commitment is such that, without telling his family, he has just married young and flashy Tatiana to protect her from deportation. But his daughter Babette, and his son Arnaud soon realize that the old man has fallen in love with the gorgeous yet self-interested Eastern European woman.

Première
"A tragicomedy as good as the best films by Bacri-Jaoui."
Studio Cinelive
A stunning family portrait, sharply written and filled with irony as biting as it is affectionate.
L'Express
A damned ironic comedy.
Anne Le Ny subtly enjoys driving her characters into a corner.
Brilliantly performed.
An instant favorite.
Le Journal du Dimanche
The acuteness of a real look at society, sobriety and sensitivity, combined with precision writing and actor direction.
Makes you laugh, gloat, smile.
Funny, smart and anti-axiomatic.
Version Femina
A success.
Fiercely funny, funnily moving, this comedic drama bears witness to an acute understanding of human nature. Perfect dialogs, delightful performances.
Le Parisien
Tasty dialogs, a clever screenplay.
A funny and pleasant film.
La Tribune
A very well pulled-off comedy of manners.
Scathing irony.
Le Point
Ironic and very well written.
L'Express Style
Tight dialogs. A scorching tone.
L'Humanité Dimanche
A new standard for French cinema, this film paints a wonderfully accurate portrait of our times.
Direct Soir
This socio-familial chronicle exudes intelligence. Just and nuanced.
France Soir
Ever since her first film Ceux qui Restent, Anne Le Ny has shown what she is: a talented rule-breaker, a gentle taboo-killer. No moralizing, no Manichaeism and an ideal cast.
Marianne
Darkly humorous and entertaining.
From amusement to emotion, scenes that ask questions without ever moralizing.
Le Figaro Magazine
Funny drama.
One comes out of it delighted to have laughed about such a serious topic.
Figaroscope
A caustic eye.
The film starts out at full speed, with a marvelous idea.
Le Figaro
Luchini and Viard give virtuoso performances, to a subtle actors' partition.
This brilliant comedy is, by far, the funniest and most subtle on screens at the moment. Make sure you are among "My Father's Guests"...
Paris Match
Excellent.
